In October 2016, I invited Mr. Danek to help me create a new theatrical piece about Whitney Houston entitled “Whitney Houston – The Last Interview,” a musical about the incredible pop princess, her rise to stardom and her unfortunate demise. I was aware of Mr. Danek’s Broadway background and his work on Memphis, Motown, and The Color Purple, but he truly impressed me in an impromptu audition for the role of Music Director for my Whitney Houston piece. I immediately picked him because of his incredible ear for musicality, which I knew would lend itself to success for this production. Choreography relies substantially on superb music, and I have been incredibly inspired by the work that Mr. Danek has done as a composer, arranger, and pianist on this musical.
